1. Who we are

UrthFund (referred to as "UrthFund," "we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the United States. Our mailing address is [TO FILL IN] and our EIN is 99-1751587. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you visit urthfund.org or interact with our services.

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information you provide directly to us when you:

• Make a donation: name, email address, billing address, and payment information. Payment information is collected and stored by our payment processor (Stripe) and is not retained on UrthFund servers.
• Become a member: the donation information above, plus your chosen public display name (which you may make anonymous or hide entirely), optional public message, and optional website URL.
• Sign up for our newsletter: your email address.
• Contact us: your name, email, organization (if provided), topic, and message content.
• Sign in to a member account: we use email-based magic links via Supabase Auth. We do not store passwords.

We also automatically collect limited technical information when you visit the site: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source, and similar standard web logs. This is used solely for security, fraud detection, and aggregate analytics.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Process donations and recurring memberships
• Send tax receipts and IRS-compliant acknowledgments
• Display member profiles publicly (only with the member's chosen visibility setting)
• Communicate program updates and annual impact reports
• Respond to inquiries
• Comply with legal and tax-reporting obligations
• Detect and prevent fraud

4. How we share information

UrthFund does not sell, rent, or trade donor personal information. We share information only:

• With service providers who process information on our behalf: Stripe (payment processing), Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting). Each is bound by contractual obligations limiting use of the information to providing services to UrthFund.
• For legal compliance when required by law, court order, or government authority.
• Publicly, with member consent: member display names, tier, and optional profile content appear publicly on the supporters wall and individual profile pages only when the member has chosen "Public" visibility. Anonymous or hidden members are not identified publicly.

5. Tax acknowledgment and IRS reporting

UrthFund is required to retain donor records to comply with IRS reporting and substantiation requirements applicable to 501(c)(3) organizations. We retain donation records for a minimum of seven years.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

UrthFund uses essential cookies only: those required to keep you signed in to your member account and to maintain session state. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics service (such as Vercel Analytics or Plausible) that does not use cookies or track users across sites.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information (subject to our legal retention obligations)
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Receive a copy of your information in a portable format

8. Data security

UrthFund uses industry-standard practices to protect personal information, including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest where applicable, role-based access controls, and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure, but we work actively to minimize risk.

9. Children's privacy

UrthFund does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

UrthFund is based in the United States. By using this site or making a donation, you consent to the processing of your information in the United States, which may have data protection rules different from those in your country.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, communicated to members directly.
